We’re proud to highlight one of our amazing partner agencies R.S.V.P.
About Them:
RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) is a Federally funded non-profit organization that matches volunteers age 55+ with organizations that need volunteers. In addition to Federal funds, RSVP is also funded by fundraisers, donations, and United Way of Fulton County. We have over 150 volunteers serving in various capacities in Fulton County, such as at several food pantries, our free health care clinic, United Ministries, our Community Center, Fulton Co Historical Society, Rochester Lions Club, Fulton Co Public Library, Habitat for Humanity, Woodlawn Hospital, and many more locations.
How United Way Helps:
Funding from United Way of Fulton County primarily helps to recognize our volunteers for all of their hard work during the year. Tokens of thanks are given (generally annually) to each volunteer to let them know they are valued and appreciated. In the past, we have given away items including tote bags, travel mugs, pens, and T-shirts. Our volunteers can be counted on to help in any way they can.
A Story of Hope:
One example of how RSVP volunteers make a difference in our community is providing transportation. Fulton County has many residents who cannot or do not drive and cannot afford to pay for transportation. When they need rides to important appointments such as a doctor or dentist visit, and Transpo is not an option, RSVP volunteers can fill in those gaps. One county resident was very thankful for RSVP, stating that she was able to get to an important heart doctor visit because of an RSVP volunteer. Another county resident was able to get to his eye doctor to have a procedure done on his eyes with the help of an RSVP volunteer who provided transportation.
We’re so grateful for the work R.S.V.P does to make a difference right here in Fulton County. Together, we’re building a stronger, united community.
